Pic: Adobe Stock Exports of knitted and crocheted clothing and accessories (HS Chapter 61) reached $1,544.928 million in January-February 2024, marking a 4.7 per cent decrease from $1,621.801 million in the same period of the previous year. Meanwhile, non-knitted apparel and accessories (HS Chapter 62) amounted to $1,306.948 million, representing a 6.6 per cent drop compared to $1,398.594 million in January-February 2023.
Turkiye's apparel exports declined by 5.59 per cent to $2.851 billion in the first two months of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. Both knitted and non-knitted clothing and accessories experienced a decrease in exports. This drop is part of a continuing trend, as the year 2023 also saw a decrease in apparel exports compared to 2022.In February 2024, exports saw a mild drop, falling 1.61 per cent to $1,461.653 million. Exports of knitted and crocheted clothing and accessories fell by 1.2 per cent, totalling $779.456 million in February 2024, against $789.155 million in February 2023. Shipments of non-knitted apparel and accessories also declined, dropping by 2 per cent from $696.453 million in February 2023 to $682.197 million in the same month of 2024.
In 2023, Turkiye's apparel exports eased by 5.86 per cent to $18.321 billion from $19.463 billion in 2022. Turkiye's apparel exports were recorded at $18.294 billion in 2021.
No textile product was featured among Turkiye’s top 20 chapters in its imports during the period under review.
