Chief minister of India's Tamil Nadu state MK Stalin has laid the foundation stone of a manufacturing unit of Taiwanese footwear firm Dean Shoes at SIPCOT Park in Ariyalur district's Jayankondam. It will be the first unit to be set up there at an investment of $118.5 million and is expected to generate 15,000 jobs. “Tamil Nadu is going through a renaissance in industrial development,” he said.The chief minister then participated in a government event at Kollapuram, where he inaugurated 507 projects, completed at a cost of ₹87.94 crore, in Ariyalur and Perambalur. He laid the foundation for 53 projects coming up in both the districts at a total cost of ₹120 crore.
In three-and-a-half years, the state government has signed memoranda of understanding to bring in investments worth ₹10 lakh crore that can generate 31 lakh jobs, Stalin said.
“Tamil Nadu is going through a renaissance in industrial development,” he was quoted as saying by media reports from the state.
